Brief : West Coast Council’s website redevelopment focused on creating a flexible, visually striking platform that could grow alongside the council’s ongoing digital transformation. The goal was to design a modern, user-friendly experience that made it easier for residents, visitors, and staff to access information and online services from any device.
Niche Ignite was engaged to rebuild the site from the ground up, improving usability, streamlining maintenance for council staff, and integrating key digital tools to support the council’s long-term digitisation strategy.
Approach : Niche Ignite worked closely with West Coast Council’s team—led by Christine Gray—through a collaborative and hands-on process. Several onsite visits to the West Coast allowed our team to work directly with staff, contractors, and the council’s digitisation team to refine content, structure, and key functionality in real time.
The project’s creative direction was inspired by the region’s stunning photography, which became a defining visual feature of the website and helped capture the character of the West Coast community.
Throughout the build, we maintained an agile approach—adapting to evolving requirements and ensuring the system could expand with future needs. Special credit goes to Mike and Jamie, who worked extensively on the development, deployment, and ongoing support of the website, including regular follow-up sessions to ensure continuous improvement and training for council staff.
